Six Months of Momentum: Celebrating Our Journey in the Bay

How the Bay Business Association is already making waves for local businesses

In just six months since our official launch on Tuesday, 30 April 2025, the Bay Business Association (BBA) has grown into a vibrant and connected community of 93 local businesses and we’re only just getting started.

Our mission is simple: enabling businesses in the Bay to thrive. And with your support, we’re building something special — a united, proactive voice that champions local enterprise and promotes the Bay as a fantastic place to live, work and play.

Fastest-Growing Business Network on the Island

With 93 members and counting, the BBA is officially the fastest-growing business association on the Isle of Wight. We’ve welcomed entrepreneurs, retailers, hospitality leaders, creatives and service providers from across Yaverland, Sandown, Lake, Shanklin and Luccombe and beyond. While our core area follows the ‘Building the Bay’ footprint from Culver Head to Horse Ledge and one mile inland, any Island-based business is welcome to join our growing community.

Connecting the Bay Through Events & Networking

We’ve hit the ground running with a series of successful events designed to connect, inspire and promote collaboration:

  • Launch Event at Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Yaverland – Tuesday, 30 April

  • Networking Social at Sandown & Shanklin Rowing Club – Sunday, 30 June

  • Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Sandown Breakwaters Project – Monday, 5 August

Next up:
Join us for a relaxed networking evening at Luccombe Hall on Thursday, 27 November from 17:30 to 19:00. A chance to connect, reflect and look ahead together.

Digital Growth and Visibility

We’ve built a strong digital presence to showcase your businesses and share what’s happening across the Bay:

  • Website: Over 1,500 visits and 3,800 page views

  • Facebook: 165 followers and growing

  • Instagram: 122 followers and engaging local content

Our platforms are designed to put your business in the spotlight.

Delivering Real Value for Members

In our first six months, we’ve delivered tangible benefits to our members, including:

  • AI Workshop – A free session for BBA members exploring how AI can support local businesses

  • Exclusive Advertising Discounts:

    • The Price is Wight – Reach 166,000+ contacts with solus campaigns for just £70+VAT (normally £199)

    • Island Echo – 25% off your first month of advertising

    • Isle of Wight Lottery – Access to interest-free business loans

This is just the beginning of our effort to unlock new opportunities and support for local businesses.

A United Voice for Local Business

Beyond networking and promotions, the BBA is working to ensure that the business community has a strong, collective voice in shaping the future of the Bay. Whether it’s influencing development, promoting tourism, or facilitating access to funding and training, we’re committed to making your voice heard.
